So most of my friends have been asking me lately how I went about starting this blog, this blog post contains how it all happened including the series of unfortunate events too. This article is dedicated to two of my friends Dr Promise and Lady Lashane, my other friends don’t worry I will definitely dedicate more posts to you next time. Alright so let’s get straight into it!
When I arrived at my University we were introduced to several clubs and you know the procedure, choose where you want to be and go there, something like that. So, I went for media club it was quite vast though concentration was mostly on photography and art. And there we got an idea of publishing our photos and artwork online so that the rest of the university would see it but the club just shut down a few days after freshmen arrived and so was the online dream.

A few days later I then thought to myself why not start my own website, I got into a small research both online and asking a few friends. One of my friends gave me the links to where I can open websites, WordPress, Wix and 000webhostapp.
000Webhostapp

I started by trying out 000Webhostapp since it was the first definite free website making website I knew at that time. Well I launched one sight, but encountered a lot of drawbacks, the service at time would be off meaning my site would be offline. This was a huge problem because at time even I could not access it, so I dumped it. I will have to admit I really enjoyed their customisation setups. “The paid version by Hostinger is way better and doesn’t have these online timeouts.”
WordPress

I later went for WordPress which is pretty cool for beginners, pretty easy to use too, I launched my first blog site. I used it for a few days and then left it. Okay don’t be confused, “ shhh, I use a free blogging site” it’s just that I had been accustomed to the vast customisations of 000webhostapp that I felt like I was being caged, so I just left looking for something more customisable. The uptime and loading speed for WordPress sites is crazy fast, I give it that.
Wix

Lastly wix, well wix is actually great especially at customisations it’s even better than 000webhostapp but I got another drawback which I could not allow in comparison to WordPress. Wix’s sites are awesome, but speed wise I found WordPress being the best. Don’t forget that all these experiences I am sharing are based on free blogging so the experience might be different on paid plans.
Don’t be frustrated, what I have just told you is one of the time wasters on starting a blog, choosing which site (company) to work with. So for all who want free accounts I would recommend WordPress, all free accounts come with a drawback, instead of writing you domain as blog name.com it comes with the company name in it such as blog name.wordpress/000webhostapp/Wix.com
After this is done you follow the steps guiding you on the site.
Get a name of your site before starting it and making a draft of what you want and how you want it, I would recommend getting a notepad just for your site.
This is how I went about it, so in the next post I will go in detail on how exactly do you set it up after you are done with your name finding and brainstorming.
I hope you found this article helpful, if so live a thumbs up 👍 and a comment below. Also tell me which others sites you think might help.
Please comment, follow and like. I would love to know what’s on your mind.
